Gender studies is an interdisciplinary program. This program highlights the role of gender in all aspects of life in national development. To ensure the successful outcome, the department has designed an agenda of the program, which covers vision, mission, and objectives as followed:
Vision
To promote research and teaching activities as well as establish linkages with Governments Institutions, NGOs, and INGOs to equip students with diverse forms of knowledge about the complex interplay of Gender and society across a vast array of contemporary and past cultures. Through Interdisciplinary research cooperation, it aims to engage faculty and students in bringing new knowledge to the fore for social Justice.
Mission
Committed to advance the field through interdisciplinary research and promoting the academic scholarship of the field in order to strengthen connections with the community and to work towards social justice and Gender Equality.
Objectives
The Department aims to achieve the following objectives:
To establish a BS program and start M. Phil and Ph.D programs in Gender Studies in accordance with the standard and requirement of the university and HEC;
To promote interdisciplinary research in co-operation with other teaching and research departments and Government Bodies like the Punjab Commission on Status of Women and National Commission on Status of Women; and
To arrange conferences, seminars, workshops, and training to train researchers in the domain of Gender Studies.
