The main function of Independence Day was held at Abbasia Campus. Worthy Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Naveed Akhtar unfurled the flag. Deans, senior teachers, dignitaries and students were present on the occasion. A seminar was also organized in Gothvi Hall. Vice-Chancellor also distributed saplings among the students, alumni and youth. A cake was also cut on the occasion of Independence Day.
The Islamia University of Bahawalpur was established in the year 1975 by upgrading historical institute of the Jamia Abbasia.
