In pursuit of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur vision to build communities and participate in socio-economic development, the historic Abbasia Campus building was lit up in blue on the occasion of World Autism Awareness Day as a gesture to express solidarity towards the "person with autism" and their families. The World Autism Awareness Day is celebrated every year on April 2nd.
The Islamia University of Bahawalpur was established in the year 1975 by upgrading historical institute of the Jamia Abbasia.
