Higher Education Commission has approved new programs in the Islamia University of Bahawalpur.
IUB is providing scholarships worth more than 92 crore rupees for 18000 male and female students.

Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob has said that Hakra Civilization is the great heritage of Bahawalpur region. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Directorate of Students Affairs, Career Counseling and Placement Center and Inter-University Consortium for Social Sciences at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. The Islamia University of Bahawalpur was established in the year 1975 by upgrading historical institute of the Jamia Abbasia.
